Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Broad Band Light (BBL)

The preferred treatment for hyperpigmentation is IPL or BBL. Unwanted pigment, sun spots and sun damage can be treated with IPL or BBL which breaks up the melanin and causes the pigment to come to the surface and flake off over 4-7 days. It helps with reducing pigmentation but can treat generalised redness at the same time. It also stimulates collagen re-growth, resulting in a healthy glow to the skin.

  • No downtime- face is pink and warm x 2 hours, followed by darkening of the pigmented skin for first 3 days, then lightening in colour for remaining 4 -10 days, depending on areas treated
  • Slightly uncomfortable procedure to some areas of the face;
  • Laughing gas may be offered for comfort
  • Make-up may be applied throughout recovery period
  • Suitable for most skin types
  • Suitable for face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, legs, shoulders and back
  • Not recommend for recently tanned skin or self-tan within 2 weeks
