What happens to the Eyebrow as we age?

The eyebrows play an important role in emotional facial expressions, nonverbal communication, and facial esthetics.

Naturally, as you age, your brows generally get a little patchier. Also, the tail tends to drop, which can pull down the eye and make it look droopy. Unfortunately, this also happens in an asymmetrical way. Some people think it’s because of the side you sleep on, but the tail does drop. Everything goes in one direction, basically, and that is south. The quality of the hair also changes, and it suffers as time goes on.”

The frown muscles between the eyes and above the inner to mid brow, not only responsible for the wrinkles between the eyes, it also gives the appearance that you may look angry, tired and the eyes become closed and smaller.

The lateral brow and the muscle around the sides of the eye, that also cause the brows to descend.

Since the eyebrows are closely linked to the upper eyelid they play an important role in the appearance of the eye area.

Here are common ageing changes in the eyebrows noticed by clients:

  1. The high arched raised eyebrow.

  2. The droopy eyebrow.

  3. Uneven and asymmetric eyebrow.

Very high arched eyebrow or uneven eyebrows are caused by the upward pull of an overactive forehead muscle (frontalis).
